bullet  General Notes:

"George Russell Sutton was born in England. Don't know much about his family there, but he spent seven years learning the plastering trade. when he had finished he came to New York City, also some brothers and we think his mother. The rest of the family stayed in england. He lived in Canada too, Montreal, and there he married Harriet O Massie. When they had two children they moved to Covey Hill. They lived in Covey Hill when he died at age 54 having been run over by an ox cart in the French town of Christom. He had three daughters and five sons. "

bullet  Birth Notes:

I don't really know George's birthdate. The only docs I have found are his death record from the Methodist Church and the 1852 Quebec census. The record of his death puts his age at 64 years in 1866. This would indicate that he was born in 1801 or 02. The 1852 census puts his age at 38. This would put his birth at about 1813 or 14.

John Kennaday
KENNADAY, John, clergyman, born in New York city, 3 November, 1800; died in Brooklyn, New York, 13 November, 1863. He was apprenticed in early life to a printer, but devoted his leisure moments to the study of law. He entered the ministry in the Methodist church, and during forty years of clerical life filled pulpits in the New York. Philadelphia, and New York East annual conferences. He was a member of two general conferences, and at the time of his death was presiding elder of Long Island district. " In the pulpit," said Bishop Janes, "he was clear in the statement of his subject, abundant and most felicitous in his illustrations, and pathetic and impressive in his applications. His oratory was of a high order."
